Tracking without a calendar

Standard cycle apps assume ovulation lands on a predictable day counted backward from your next period. That math only holds when ovulation itself is regular. If you carry a chronic condition, or your cycles vary widely, the calendar approach quietly produces a confident-looking number with no real basis.

This tool leans on physical biomarkers instead — signals your body actually produces around ovulation, rather than a date arithmetic can't verify:

• Cervical Mucus / Fluid — texture shifts from dry or sticky toward a watery, stretchy "egg-white" consistency in the days closest to ovulation.
• Basal body temperature — a small, sustained rise (often 0.2–0.5°C) after ovulation has already occurred, useful for confirming a pattern in hindsight.
• Menstrual Flow / Period timing and intensity — logged consistently, this is what lets the Historical Analysis table build a real picture of your own baseline instead of a textbook one.
• Lifestyle disruptors — stress, illness, sleep loss, and medication changes are logged because each one can shift ovulation later, or suppress it in a given cycle entirely.

Reading your Confidence Meter

The Confidence Meter drops for two independent reasons: an active chronic-condition or "highly irregular" flag on your profile, or disruptors logged inside your current cycle. Either one alone lowers confidence; both together keep it capped at Low, because the estimate underneath is genuinely less reliable — not because the app is being cautious for its own sake.

Why anovulatory cycles break calendar math

A "textbook" cycle assumes a follicle matures on a predictable schedule, a mid-cycle LH surge triggers ovulation, and a stable ~14-day luteal phase follows before the next period. Calendar-based fertility estimates are really just that assumption, counted backward from your next expected period.

In an anovulatory cycle, that chain doesn't complete — a follicle may not fully mature, the LH surge may not fire, or it may fire without releasing an egg. The cycle can still produce bleeding on a roughly regular schedule, which is exactly what makes it invisible to date-based math: the calendar keeps producing an estimate, it's simply not attached to anything that happened.

PMOS / PCOS Status Active

PMOS is characterized by a hormonal environment — often elevated androgens and disrupted LH/FSH balance — that can prevent a follicle from maturing and ovulating on any fixed schedule. Some cycles may be anovulatory entirely; others may ovulate weeks later than a 28-day model would predict. This is precisely why this profile replaces a narrow fertile-window estimate with a wide Unpredictable Zone rather than a false precise date.

Thyroid disorders

The thyroid interacts closely with the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can lengthen or shorten cycles, delay the LH surge, or suppress ovulation in a given month, independent of anything visible in a bleeding calendar.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is commonly associated with cycle irregularity and pain patterns that fluctuate independently of ovulation timing. Because pain flares don't reliably track a single point in the cycle, they're logged here as a standalone signal rather than folded into the fertility estimate itself.

Why stress, illness, sleep, and medication matter

Acute stress, fever, sleep deprivation, and some medication changes can each delay or blunt the LH surge through cortisol and other stress-axis pathways. Logged inside a cycle, they're one of the clearest, most direct reasons the Confidence Meter should read lower than a simple date-based tool would ever admit.

Quiet Ledger exists for one job: help someone with an irregular or condition-affected cycle log what their body is actually doing, without pretending a calendar formula knows more than it does. It has no ambition beyond that.

No ads, no brokers

There is nothing to monetize here because there is nothing collected. No advertising network is embedded in this page, no analytics script runs, and no data broker has ever received a row of this app's output — because the app has no way to send one anywhere.

The architecture guarantee

Every field on this page reads from and writes to window.localStorage, a storage sandbox your browser keeps isolated to this one page, on this one device. There is no fetch call, no WebSocket, and no form submission anywhere in this file that could move that data off the device.

This entire application — markup, styling, and behavior — lives in the single HTML file you opened, with no external stylesheets, fonts, or scripts loaded from anywhere. It runs identically whether your device is online or has never touched a network at all.
